Costa del Sol, a sun-drenched coastline from Nerja to Estepona

Costa del Sol is the name of the part of the Andalucia coastline that stretches from Nerja in the east to west in Manilva. The approximately 20 mil-long coastal strip contains from Nerja entirely addition Torre del Mar, the provincial capital of Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona. Costa del Sol has also sometimes been regarded as the 300 km that extends from Motril in the east to Cadiz in the west and thus belong to the three provinces, Granada, Malaga and Cadiz.
The best-known cities along the coast are, from east to west Nerja Nerja Malaga Torremolinos is the town situated geographically at the end of the Costa del Sol’s east side. There is a famous spot for tourists and foreign residentes many years. It is well located in the mountains of Sierra de Almijara in the background and the Mediterranean Sea in front of him. The city is located virtually in the middle of the Costa del Sol, between western and eastern Costa del Sol. Malaga is not a tourist in the sense that it has many hotels to offer seats to tourists, but it is undoubtedly the city that most’re ever mainly because it is the only major town on the coast of what is involved in the supply of various kinds, eg department store El Corte Inglés.

The 1900s the town prospered thanks to the industrial development in the iron and steel sector and the textile industry. River Guadalmedina parts the city into two parts. Torremolinos is located 12 km west of Malaga and just 7 km from the international airport. It was here that the tourist boom on the Costa del Sol began in the 1950s and 1960s the city grew strongly and was the most popular resorts and tourist destination on the entire Costa del Sol.

In Torremolinos there are also a large water park and one of the coast’s largest conference and exhibition hall. During the 60 – and 70-century, Torremolinos is one of the most visited holiday destinations in Europe. Fuengirola Mijas Espetona 30 km from Malaga Fuengirola, with a very small community area. Fuengirola, which was originally a small fishing village is now almost entirely designed and built for tourism. Here, both the Spaniards themselves, and many Europeans, their holiday and Fuengirola is also the center of the Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish population along the Costa del Sol.

Here is the Swedish school, the Swedish Church, consulates and Spanish Nordic Society. The city has a 7 km beach strip and promenade is the longest and most beautiful on the entire coast.

Here are the most bars and restaurants and this is also the popular marina with over 200 berths and a number of bars, restaurants and discos. Nearby is also a fishing port with great importance for the city’s economy.

Fuengirola coast has only zoo that is situated in the middle of town. Fuengirola is not the most conspicuous of the resorts on the Costa del Sol and enjoy nor Marbella international reputation. Mijas is located 8 km from Fuengirola towards the Mijas mountains. It is a typical Andalusian mountain village with stunning views of Fuengirola and the Mediterranean. Mijas municipality is large in area and extends down to and adjacent to Fuengirola, and on one side of Fuengirola, down to the Mediterranean. This means that the well-known villages such as La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda belongs to the municipality of Mijas and Fuengirola not to whom it is easy to think geographically way Estepona is the last major tourist town on the western Costa del Sol. Until 1729 it belonged to Marbella. The city has retained its character of the fishing village and is considered today as one of the most well-run tourist resorts along the Costa del Sol. Promenade is one of the best and most enjoyable along the Costa del Sol and there is also a port for pleasure boats. There are also several golf courses in Estepona, which has also been the main fishing port in Andalucia. Marbella Benalmadena in Benalmadena is also Benalmadena – Costa and Arroyo de la Miel. It is a pure tourist town with lots of hotels, bars and restaurants. In Arroyo de la Miel is also owned the famous Danish amusement park Tivoli World, which is one of the largest theme parks in Spain. There are numerous restaurants and bars and a large outdoor theater where every summer occurs world-class artists from Spain and around the world. In Benalmadena-Costa is one of the two casinos located on the coast, the Casino de Juego de Torrequebrada. In addition to the casino so, this huge tourist complex is also a 5-star hotel with the famous golf course Torrequebrada Golf, tennis courts, gyms, shops and a large congress hall, and of course, restaurant, bar and lounge. Benalmadena Costa has nine kilometers coastline and one of the largest and most famous marina in Spain. There are thousands of berths for boats between 6-30 meters and 2-5 meters deep. Here are all the services you could wish to boat owners: water, electricity, fuel, ice, car park, boatyard, parking, etc., and a boat club.

The marina is lots of good restaurants, bars, boutiques and hotels. Much nicer and more well built than Puerto Banus, but not quite as popular, although the Benalmádena Marina 1995, chosen as one of the world’s best marinas in a large increase in international.

The village of Benalmadena Pueblo is located two kilometers from the coast and are worth mentioning for its very special Andalusian architecture with white houses and narrow streets with balconies overflowing with flowers. 56 km west of Malaga is the most famous tourist and vacation paradise on the Costa del Sol, Marbella, with 26 km long coastal strip from Capopino to San Pedro de Alcántara. The city of Marbella is a combination of the two cities, the old Marbella and the new built in the 1960s – and ’70s.

The old town is dominated by narrow streets and small white houses and the most famous place is probably the Plaza de los Naranjos – orange square.
The new town was built during the 1970s and 1980s when the city had its heyday. There was lots of villas and townhouses urbanisations, luxury hotels and apartment complexes. The city may at first sight give a stereotypical image and it is probably many opinions but it is undoubtedly the Costa del Sol and throughout Spain’s most famous and in a class by itself.

The most famous Puerto Banus is between Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara. The most attractive in Puerto Banus has always been the port. The special nightlife that is created in the area with an amazing collection of yachts, Rolls-Royce in long lines and Lamborghini carrying their passengers to and from the nearby casino, the narrow bars and funky restaurants where you almost every night looking a world celebrity.
In the vicinity of Puerto Banus is located Nueva Andalucia is an area of four famous golf courses, Aloha – Los Naranjos – Las Brisas and La Quinta – and where thousands of Northern Europeans have acquired a residence.
In this area, most Swedes on the entire coast, closely followed by Fuengirola. Nueva Andalucia is also a huge bullring and a coast of two casinos, Casino Nueva Andalucia. The other two marinas located in Capo Pino east of Marbella and Marbella itself. San Pedro de Alcántara is a city for himself, but belongs to the municipality of Marbella.
